This year’s community garage sale for Geist Harbours neighborhoods will be June 1-2, 2012. The GHPOA will market the event through the Geist Community Newsletter and local area newspapers as well as with signage at the entryways of the 13 GHPOA neighborhoods.

Feather Cove I Recount Ends with Kristen Hodge Named Winner

The Recount Panel for the Geist Harbour Property Owners Association’s Feather Cove I director election met at the offices of CASI on Wednesday morning.

At the conclusion of their examination of each vote cast the Recount Panel determined that the final vote for director was 98-97 in favor of Kristen Hodge.

The Recount Panel members, Mary Ellingson, Tom Britt and Scott Orich, are to be commended for devoting their time conducting this investigation. We thank them for having performed the recount and for having conveyed the results to me on such a timely basis.

Due to the confidential nature of each vote, as specified in various GHPOA documents and on the face of the ballots themselves, I anticipate that this correspondence (and its corollary, which will be posted on the association’s web site within a reasonable period of time after) will be the only announcements regarding that election.

Feather Cove One residents are really fortunate to have had the privilege of choosing between candidates who were obviously so qualified to represent them.

GHPOA owes a sincere debt of gratitude to Susan Lew, who served on several committees of the association and always discharged her duties with honor and integrity.

We welcome new director Hodge to the GHPOA board of directors and look forward to working with her as she represents Feather Cove I on the GHPOA board.

Election Results for 2012 Board of Directors

The voting for the 2012 board of directors has concluded with four new board members being installed, one seat is still in question. Feather Cove I voting ended in a tie, a recount will be conducted by a panel consisting of current and past board members to determine the winner. Following is a listing of the 2012 board members:

Sandra Willis (Admirals Bay), Carol Bacallao, (Admirals Pointe), Scott Orich (Admirals Woods), Bob Hittle (Admirals Sound), Orion Bell (Beam Reach), Tom Britt (Crossing South), Larry Gigerich (Diamond Pointe), Susan Lew/Subject to recount (Feather Cove I), Terry Fulk (Feather Cove II), Jerry Wilkey (Feather Cove III), David Peace (Masthead I), Barry Howard (Masthead II).

Covenant Amendment Final Tally

Only one of the three proposed covenant amendments passed after a year of debate and voting. Covenant amendment #2 that created a DCC review process passed, the other two allowing for the GHPOA to recover legal fees and lower the percentage of homeowners needed to change future covenants did not pass. Annual Garage Sale: June 10-11

The annual GHPOA Garage Sale will be held on Friday, June 10 and Saturday, June 11 from 8:00 am – 3:00 pm. GHPOA will provide advertising for the event and entryway signage the week prior.

Covenant Amendment Voting to Close February 28

Your GHPOA Board of Directors will close the vote on the 3 proposed covenant amendments at midnight on February 28, 2011. If you have not yet voted please do so by this time for your vote to be counted.

Development Control Committee Terminated

Effective December 13, 2010, pursuant to Article X of the Bylaws, the GHPOA board voted to terminate the responsibilities of the current Development Control Committee (DCC) members. All applications from homeowners submitted between December 13th and February 21st will be processed by the GHPOA board until the Board appoints new DCC members at its February 21, 2011 meeting. Anyone interested in serving on the DCC should contact the management company, CASI, and provide their name and contact information. If you have any questions about the responsibilities of serving on the DCC please also contact CASI at 317-875-5600.

IMPORTANT….Covenant Amendment Vote In Progress

Currently Homeowners are voting on three very important proposed amendments to our Declaration of Restrictions. The first pertains to the recovery of attorneys fees in covenant violation cases. The second pertains to a new appeal process for an owner who receives a denial from our Architectural Control Committee.
